The purpose of this site is to learn how to play lead guitar.
EFFECTIVELY! Here you will find plenty of intermediate to advanced
guitar solo techniques for your fingers to feed on.

Together, we will explore various techniques that apply to learning how
to play lead guitar in various settings, including your bedroom, on
stage, and maybe even MY bedroom!

The guitar solo techniques contained herein encourage the expansion of
your consciousness along with the development of your guitar soloing
ability.

In addition, the techniques found in these pages are here to help you
improve your accuracy, increase your speed, and boost your level of raw
emotion. I want to encourage you to start playing licks that taste good
and smell bad! MMMM...

Who This Site is For

This site is for aspiring lead guitarists who seek a well-rounded,
seasoned, approach to playing solos. It includes examples of very
advanced technique, as well as some easier stuff.

It is written with the assumption that you have some basic knowledge of
guitar technique and feel comfortable with reading tablature.

However, everyone can benefit from this site, including intermediate
players who are just starting to learn how to play lead guitar to more
advanced players who are looking for ways to develop their current
skills.

So What's In It For You? (besides learning how to play lead guitar really,
really good)

While I fully encourage developing the ability to fly through scales
and burn up the fretboard, learning how to play lead guitar is about
much more than running through scales and modes at high speeds. You
will learn to use said flashy spurts with a measure of reservation and
taste.

P.S. on the above sentiments: If you haven't noticed yet, this site is
written from a dualistic perspective. Shredding really fast is awesome,
and you will find lessons for that, too, as well as stuff on laying low
and just playing tastefully.

My goal is to help you navigate your way intelligently through learning
how to play lead guitar consciously and to keep you from getting lost
in a blaze of random shredding!

Depending on your personal taste, you may enjoy learning about sweep
picking technique and finger-tapping. Maybe you prefer letting your
notes breathe with psychedelic blues licks. Whatever your niche, it's
all here!

On this site, you will find tabs that give examples of guitar solo
techniques based on my unique style that I have developed over more
than half my lifetime. All of the material used in the lessons is
original and highly effective. The goal is for you to use my tab
examples to learn from and apply them to your own personality.

Not only will you find loads of free tablature, but if you have ever
wondered how to setup your electric guitar, use your guitar effects
pedals, or how to maintain just the right amount of pretentious
narcissism on stage, you will find methods for that here, too...

I have tailored certain aspects of my site according to exact

written music. I have made the executive decision to display my tabs in
a certain way. Where you see tab examples, here is what you do:
1. Click on the tabs to make them bigger and learn them
2. Listen to the example using the player above the tabs
3. Click on the tabs again to collapse them and move on to the next
example

Simple right! It's all here for your viewing experience ;) Keep in mind

Indiana Jones. He will keep you from breaking a sweat during even the
most demanding of guitar solos. This is your guide down a river with
many forks, waterfalls, and crazy looking Indians who want their magic
rocks back...

Moore Metal: Logic

Moore Metal likes to thrash about and destroy stuff just for fun. He
will encourage maniacal on stage behavior like smashing your axe and
chugging too much booze during a performance. Watch out for this guy,
because you might regret that grand down the drain after destroying all
your gear in an emotional, alcohol fueled rampage.

Ooga Booga: Spirit

Ooga Booga is the oldest and wisest of all the Guides. He/She has no
time for childish humor and is all business when it comes to playing
lead guitar. Listen to his/her advice with all your heart and soul.

Strawberry Cupcake the Groupie

OK, Miss Strawberry isn't technically a spirit guide, but she will show
up now and again just the same to point out...well, whatever she feels
like. Besides, what do you care? She IS a groupie!

Nothin' 'Gainst You Left Handed Playas

Against my better judgment, I have chosen to write the content of this
site using terminology that refers specifically to the right and left
hands to mean pick hand and fret hand respectively. I have had hundreds
of students over the years and less than a handful have been left
handed.

If you are left handed and you play guitar that way, I assume you are
already much smarter than I am and I'm sure you can interchange my
strict terminology to match your ambidexterity. Please forgive my
indiscretion and continue to learn from this site regardless.
